Go Deep: 20th Anniversary of The Phoenix Lights

Those who know me well understand that I have a fascination with all things paranormal or unexplained. The story of the Phoenix lights is particularly interesting to me. On this, the 20th anniversary of the mass UFO sighting, I share with you a well-executed documentary that has always stuck with me.

Quoteworthy: Roald Dahl, 1916-1990

"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."
-Roald Dahl

Sasha Fierce Roman, February 1, 2008-September 13, 2016

In loving remembrance of my beloved Sasha, who came to us on election night 2008. She deserved a much longer life but the 8 years that we were blessed to have her will always be cherished. When I found out that we shared a birthday, I was positive that she was sent into my life for a reason. One other synchronicity will always stick with me. Shortly before Sasha came into our family, I asked my Mom for a cat. She was hesitant about adding another animal into our family so as a "consolation", she bought me a toy cat with black and white fur. Eerily enough, Sasha looked identical to this figurine.

I've always been an animal lover. The amount of joy and enrichment that they bring into our world is unparalleled. I'll never forget the way Sasha snuggled on my lap when I was sick or how her companionship comforted me when I was going through a difficult time in my life. I loved squeezing her paw and listening to her purr. She was gentle but adventurous and always eager to explore. She chose our family and we gladly adopted her into our home. I will never forget her magical spirit.

Happy Anniversary, Mom & Dad! 10.17.81

My parents met at a Halloween party in the early 60s. My Mom jokes that my Dad brought another girl but he took her home. They've been through a lot together but have always stood by each other's side. My Dad served in Vietnam but wrote many letters to my Mom that she still has. He actually stepped on a landmine and lost his leg on my Mother's 21st birthday. She could have easily left him but she never wavered. Their's is a true love that I someday hope to find. They finally got married a couple decades after first meeting with my sister and I following a number of years after that. I always tell people that if my parents got married and had kids in a similar time frame to what their peers were doing, I would be significantly older (or perhaps not here at all).

I'm grateful for the example that they've set for me as to what a strong relationship looks like. They've sacrificed their entire lives to give my sister and I the best education and opportunities available. I love them for the values they've instilled in me and for making me the person I am today. In terms of relationships, they've never pushed me towards being with someone or not being with someone. Instead, they set the example to never be in a rush or force things to happen. True love will find you in the end...
