Go Deep: 20th Anniversary of The Phoenix Lights

Those who know me well understand that I have a fascination with all things paranormal or unexplained. The story of the Phoenix lights is particularly interesting to me. On this, the 20th anniversary of the mass UFO sighting, I share with you a well-executed documentary that has always stuck with me.

Go Deep: King Khan & the Shrines, Live in Seattle

I feel the desire to share one of my favorite live music recordings. I stumbled across this video very accidentally several years ago, never having heard of the band prior to its discovery. Since then, the performance has stuck with me. Around this time every year, with the autumnal energy thick and the veils between the worlds thinning, I often find myself watching it again and again...

Go Deep: Shia LaBeouf, the Nymphomaniac Interview

Perhaps it's because he shares the same exact birthday with one of my best friends so I know our Gemini-Aquarius compatibility is on point, or maybe it's because I grew up watching him on Even Stevens, but Shia LaBeouf just does it for me.

“The first info we got — and I’ll never forget this because my entire team reacted with such fear — the first request from the production end, not Lars, was for pictures of my penis. Lars goes, ‘Send him the letter. The letter was, ‘Are you game?’ I guess the first test was, ‘Let’s time how long it takes this motherfucker to send his dick over the Internet.’ It was like 20 minutes; they were like, ‘All right, kid’s ready.’”

Go Deep: Life Path #9 in Numerology

As a number 9 myself (02/01/1986), I found this video to be quite on point. If you're interested in finding out more information on the other life path numbers, Alyssa Sharpe's channel is one of my favorites. My Mother's maiden name was Sharpe so I happen to like her even more because of this connection! :)

Go Deep: Woodkid + Absolut

Okay, so perhaps a commercial for vodka isn't the most probing thing on the planet but I loved it! Woodkid is astonishing and at the top of my "artists I want to see live the most" list.

And if you're now in the mood to hear "Ghost Lights" in its entirety, click no further:

For those who aren't familiar, Woodkid is Yoann Lemoine, a French musician/director/graphic designer. His debut album, The Golden Age, was released earlier this year (definitely a favorite) and can be purchased here.

Be sure to check out these other songs by Woodkid:
  • "The Golden Age"
  • "Boat Song"
  • "I Love You"
  • "Shadows"
  • "Conquest of Spaces"

Go Deep: Jack White & Conan O'Brien

"I often think that society is missing out on something right now; to think that anger and hostility are things that are in the violent realm of emotions- that they're all completely one hundred percent bad and should be avoided at all costs. I don't think that's true at all."
-Jack White

I found this conversation to be very enlightening. As a Catholic (albeit with strong Spiritualist beliefs and an open mind to all paths), I could relate to Jack and Conan's perspectives. I find Jack White to be one of the most intelligent people in the music industry. He has such a brilliant mind. I long to have and keep people like this in my life. Thought-provoking conversations with good friends (or total strangers) are vital.
