It's Christmas Time in Krista's Head

It's not even Thanksgiving and I'm already extra excited for Christmas! One sure fire way of realizing that I'm in the holiday spirit is wanting to watch The Family Stone. It's one of my favorite modern Christmas movies. If you haven't seen the film, I highly recommend it. The entire cast is superb; Diane Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Sarah Jessica Parker and Claire Danes are among my favorite actresses. Luke Wilson- hot. Dermot Mulroney- hot. Paul Schneider- hot. Craig T. Nelson- Coach. Before 2013 rolls in, I'm sure I will have watched it an additional five or six times. I just love its vibe.

Conversations with Other Women

"If the cardiologist decides that you are too old and decrepit and ugly to be at all lovable, I am available to tolerate you in your golden years."

I found this little gem of a movie via Netflix. It reminds me a lot of my favorites, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. If you liked those films or are interested in a unique picture that truthfully displays human interaction, I highly suggest checking this one out. Helena Bonham Carter is superb!

Stealing Beauty

I almost forgot how much I enjoyed this one. The cinematography never left my memory but the title nearly escaped me. This film creates such a beautiful atmosphere. It makes me want to live on top of a hill in Italy and do nothing all day but drink wine, paint, listen to music and swim. Nights would be reserved for conversation, writing, parties and love. But now that I think about it, my life really isn't all that different. The hills of Pittsburgh are beautiful but the isolating serenity of Tuscany seems a tad more romantic. This movie is pure elegance. Such a lifestyle.

50 Years of Breakfast at Tiffany's

In homage to Breakfast at Tiffany's 50th commemoration, Oliver Goldsmith created an exact replica of the sunglasses Audrey Hepburn wore in the iconic film. To say that I want these shades would be quite the understatement. Love!

Melancholia

I came across this trailer while reading about astronomy online. I can't wait to see it! The cinematography looks enchanting. Kirsten Dunst is one of my favorite actresses. She always chooses amazing projects. Melancholia looks like my type of film!

The Butterfly Effect

Tonight, I was in the mood to watch a supernatural movie. I chose The Butterfly Effect because I haven't seen it since I was about 18 or 19-years-old. I really appreciate films that challenge my thought process. If you're one of the few people who haven't seen this movie or if it has been awhile like it was for me, I highly suggest checking it out.

The movie had me thinking about the actual butterfly effect theory. While much of what I have read correlates the phenomenon to weather patterns, I can't help but think of human interaction. It's amazing to consider how each decision we make can have the possibility of impacting our lives in a tremendous way. With the tenth anniversary of 9/11 quickly approaching, I'm sure there will be plenty of survival stories about how someone missed their usual bus or train that morning by mere minutes, setting into motion a delay long enough to spare their lives. While these stories will be spotlighted for obvious reasons, it happens to each of us, every day... perhaps without realizing it.

Who we meet, what we learn and ultimately, who we become, is shaped by every split decision we make. How everything comes together or conversely falls apart, is really something to think about...

Friday Night Feature: THE HUNGER

My boss suggested this movie to me. I'm going to try and get around to watching it sometime tonight or over the weekend. It looks well done and pretty interesting.

Lebanon, PA

It was so hot yesterday that I spent the night at my sister's place. I napped. I watched some paranormal TV and then ordered a movie. I chose a little indie flick by the name of Lebanon, PA. I was in the mood for this type of film and I really, really liked it! I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but if you're in the right frame of mind and have the same way of thinking as I do, you might like it as well.

Lebanon, PA moved pretty quickly, the actors were fantastic and the music was nice. It's a drama/comedy but managed to make me laugh quite a bit. It was a smart film; very thought provoking. Rather than give a synopsis, I'll share with you the movie trailer below. It's a pretty good one.
