Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra. I thought this black gown had the perfect fusion of sex appeal with a bit of elegance (well, as elegant as you can look in cutouts). It worked wonderfully on her.
Maria Menounos in Gomez-Gracia. I've always thought she was stunning. I thought this look was something different. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with it (especially the belt) but it was a nice splash of color on the carpet. Love her hair. She wore the dress (not the other way around) so points for her.
Kimbra in Jaime Lee Major. When I think of the Grammys, this is the type of gown I'd expect to see on the red carpet. While it's certainly not for everyone, I think it looked stunning on her. It was one of the few risks that were even taken and subsequently one of the only dresses that managed to capture my attention.
Rihanna in Alaia. Beautiful gown. I also loved her hair and makeup. I think Rihanna is one of the most talented mainstream artists of the times. Really dig her music and what's happening here.
Notable Mentions:
- Mario Lopez's suit. Loved the maroon hue.
- Alexa Chung looked beautiful but I thought her dress wasn't really appropriate for the occasion (much better for something in the daytime).
- The jury is still out on Taylor Swift's J. Mendel gown. The beading going down the front of her chest reminded me of the scoliosis back brace as seen in Romy and Michele's High School Reunion.
