RIP Zelda Kaplan
On the secret to keeping young and feeling good...
"One must be interested in the world, not in one's self only."
-Zelda Kaplan 1916-2012
Because she was a free-spirited woman who didn't wake up until the afternoon, loved fashion and exclusively drank champagne, I feel a sense of kindredness to Zelda Kaplan and wanted to honor her memory.

RIP Whitney Houston 1963-2012
"I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow; if I fail, or if I succeed at least I did as I believe."
"I Will Always Love You", 1992.
I spent the entirety of first grade listening to this song over and over again. I was so impressed with Whitney's vocal ability and just loved hearing her hit all the notes. She sang some of my favorite lyrics of all time in this...
I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish you joy and happiness
But above all this, I wish you love...

Quoteworthy
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Amy Winehouse 1983-2011
I was terribly saddened to hear of Amy Winehouse's untimely passing. I was just listening to one of my favorite records of all time, Back to Black, on Wednesday. As I listened to Amy's gorgeous voice, I hoped that she would get herself together.
During my junior year of college, I constantly played Back to Black when I was driving around campus. I remember thinking that Amy was so supremely talented. I was excited that someone with so much soul was producing music for my generation. Her sound reminded me of the music I grew up listening to with my parents.
But unfortunately, like many of the greats, she is gone too soon. Rest well, Amy. Thank you for your gift of song. Your music will live on.
