Music Monday: Bonobo

I don't recall the first time I ever heard Bonobo's music but it's one of those instances when you're just grateful that it happened. Perhaps the aha moment came after watching the sweeping music video for Break Apart (featuring one of my favorite artists, Rhye). I was also blown away and officially hooked while watching Bonobo's live stream from Coachella.

Bonobo is Simon Green, a British musician, producer and DJ who is now based in Los Angeles. He has that ethereal ability to teleport your soul to another dimension. His latest album, Migration, was released earlier this year and can be purchased here.

Quoteworthy

"I believe in the country America used to be. I believe in the person I want to become. I believe in the freedom of the open road. And my motto is the same as ever: I believe in the kindness of strangers. And when I'm at war with myself, I ride. I just ride. Who are you? Are you in touch with all of your darkest fantasies? Have you created a life for yourself where you can experience them? I have. I am fucking crazy. But I am free."
-Lana Del Rey

Music Video: James Blake "Overgrown"

I've been really busy with work this week and haven't had much time to update my blog. I feel like The Times New Roman has turned into nothing more than Music Monday posts (sorry about that). I have so many directions I want to take this blog. I really want to dedicate the time and creative effort to turn it into something I can be proud of. But I came across this James Blake music video on Pinterest tonight and had to share. I love his music and adore this video.

Check out the full album here.

Music Monday: Neil Young & Crazy Horse

"Ramada Inn"

"Twisted Road"

"She's Always Dancing"

I really appreciate these types of music videos. It's always interesting to see vintage footage paired with modern music. One of the bars I go to in my hometown (Brillobox in Pittsburgh) usually plays old films and random videos on silent mode. I like watching the screens to see how it integrates with the mostly modern music being played.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse's new album, Psychedelic Pill, is out now.

Video Killed the Radio Star: "Paradise" by Wild Nothing

This is a gorgeous video. I inadvertently had the pleasure of seeing Wild Nothing when they opened for Beach House. I was very impressed and would love to see them again.

Side Note: It never ceases to amaze me that some people don't even glance out the window when they're on a plane. It secretly upsets me when someone closes the shield when they're not even sleeping. I always try to steal a window seat. I've spent the entirety of flights staring out the window and daydreaming. It's so peaceful and beautiful up there.

Flashback Friday

"Revival" by Soulsavers, 2007.

I absolutely love this song and think the music video is perfection! Soulsavers has a new album coming out in May entitled The Light the Dead See. I'm excited to hear what they've been working on.

A "Summer Heights" Summer

In this scene, Jonah Takalua, the troubled middle school student, raps during class about being Tongan. Keep in mind, this is the same actor who plays Mr. G. and Ja'mie King. This is so inappropriately brilliant!

"Being a Poly... oh my golly!"

"KEEP THE BEAT GOING, MOTHERFUCKA!"
