Flashback Friday: Spring '06
With my beautiful friend, Anna, at my college radio station formal. She's getting married this summer! I can't believe I was only 20-years-old in this picture. '06 was a great year for me & filled with many wonderful memories.

Flashback Friday
"Under the Milky Way" by The Church, 1988
I love this song so much. Despite being created in the late '80s, "Under the Milky Way" manages to evoke a familiar sound from the decade but at the same time, it has a modern quality to it. I listened to this song a lot during college.
Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find
And it's something quite peculiar
Something shimmering and white
Leads you here, despite your destination
Under the Milky Way tonight

Two Thousand Five.
Over on facebook, I saw one of those random, little tags floating around. I can be a nerd when it comes to these sorts of things. So, of course, I "liked it". The year that I was given from the original poster was 2005...
HER TAG:
MY RESPONSE:
I was given the year 2005.
I turned 19 on February 1st of that year.
I was a freshman in college, living in the dorms at West Virginia University- one of the funnest and most memorable years of my life!
In the fall, I was a sophomore and had my first apartment at a place called Sterling Ridge/College Park.
You could usually find me double fisting Amaretto Sours on most nights of the week.
I was the Queen of Hearts or the Red Queen for Halloween this year.
The Steelers won Super Bowl XL in February '06 but it was for the 2005 season... lots of great football that year!
The Mountaineers went 11-1 and won the Sugar Bowl on January 2nd, '06.
This was an amazing year in my life.
If I could go back, I probably would!
Now Playing: "Disco Inferno" by 50 Cent & "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dogg
*Two of the songs I played the most in 2005 ;)

Flashback Friday
Every Waking Moment by Citizen Cope (2006)
This album brings back so many memories! I vividly remember the first time I heard it. I was working at WVU's radio station and someone had the CD playing on their laptop. I instantly made it a point to make friends with that person. I don't remember their name or what they look like today, but if I did, I would thank them for introducing me to one of my favorite albums! The next day, I went out and bought my own copy. I listened to that CD regularly for an entire year. I discovered it in the fall and was still playing it at the bar at home in Pittsburgh during the summer months. I've seen Citizen Cope a couple times and he is so talented!
I love the entire album but here a few of my favorite tracks...
"John Lennon"
I just love everything about "John Lennon". The lyrics are powerful and Cope sings them with such an enormous amount of passion. This song always puts me in an interesting mood. It's definitely one of my favorite songs from my early 20s! It's a smart song but I still find it to be very sexy... then again, I find intelligent men to be hot... why not music as well?! :)
"All Dressed Up"
This song takes me back to the Summer of 2007. I was 21 and going out every night (not that the drinking age ever stopped me before). This was the song that I blasted in my car's stereo to and from all my regular spots. I love it.
"Somehow"
You and I was meant to be together in love...
Where can I find a guy to write me a letter/poem/song like this?

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Beer- Check
Beads- Check
Boobs- ...Yeah, Not this year
Mardi Gras reminds me of two things- college and New Orleans. Lately, I wish I could be at either of those wonderous places. But alas, I'm in Pittsburgh. For Lent, I'm going to ATTEMPT to give up pop during the week and salt (again). I'm in a wedding in a couple weeks, so I am definitely going to do a cleanse or two and try to get back into my fitness/health regime. Summer is but a couple months away!
