Flashback Friday

"Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect" by The Decemberists, 2002.

I've been watching a lot of old episodes of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix. The show started when I was in college; that was a time in my life when I watched very little to no television at all. I have a lot of catching up to do to say the least. This song was used very nicely in one of the episodes. When it began to play, it instantly clicked with me. The sound of The Decemberists takes me back to the early-to-mid-2000s. It just has that familiar, laid back vibe which I began to appreciate through working at a radio station at the time. The lyrics are full of tremendous imagery and it's a really beautiful song. While the sound speaks to a specific period in my own life, the song itself more so reminds me of my Dad (he was nearly killed in Vietnam yet remains quite the craftsman).
